Cloisonne
Beads:
Sample shown of Cloisonne - 12mmm Brown barrel bead - just $1.40 each. Cloisonne twisted wire and enameled beads, producing delightful intricate patterns of a picture or mosaic, similar to a stained glass window. The art of Cloisonne is an enameling technique in which thin wire partitions (called, cloisons) are filled with enamel. This technique is very old, and was practiced in ancient Byzantium and China. First, delicate strips of copper wire are bent to create a design, then are placed and soldered onto the bead's surface. Next, the spaces are filled with different colored enamels. Finally, the bead is fired and polished several times to produce the desired effect. These beads come in different colors and shapes. Other styles also available, come see us! Porcelain Beads:
Chinese hand painted porcelain bead, prices range $1.25 - $4.25 each. Examples shown of flat oval (20 m.m.) or tube beads (40 m.m.)which are drilled larger for working with silk or leather.
